The Aabuthnott Gallimore Alumni Association, Inc. was founded in August 2016 by a group of past students from the class of 1981 and 1982 who like many who have passed through the gates of Aabuthnott Gallimore High, saw the need to pool their resources together and give back to their alma mater. Today, the association is driven by a strong elected executive body and past students from the first graduating batch from the class of 1976 to the class of 2016.
The goals of the Association are:
• To establish and maintain a strong life-long relationship between the alumni and the school.
• To assist with the provision of adequate facilities at the school for all students and other stakeholders to benefit from.
• To facilitate career networking by assisting through linkages to opportunities and the provision of useful information.
• Work in partnership with the school to encourage alumni participation in scholarships and mentoring programs.
• Engage in alumni events on or off the school grounds such as reunions and fundraising activities.
• Facilitate the transition of current students to the alumni.
• To promote pride, strengthen bonds and loyalty among current and former students.
• To solicit donations on behalf of the school.
Some of the accomplishments since the association’s existence include the following:
– Mentoring of students.
– Donation of soccer balls and cricket gears to the Physical Education Department.
– Purchasing of two industrial stoves for the Home Economics Department.
– Donation of desktop computers to the Information Technology department and the Library.
– Donation of trophies to the champion boy and champion girl on sports day.
We are currently organizing a Fair to be held on the school grounds on July 7, 2017. This will be an annual event as we continue to seek ways in which we can get current and past-students in one location that can provide opportunities for camaraderie, opportunities to strengthen the bond between past-students and Aabuthnott Gallimore High School; and at the same time, raise funds to take on much needed projects at the school. The association also planned on giving incentives to the top boy and girl of each class at the end of each school year for academic achievements.
As a 501C-3 Non-Profit organization, the Aabuthnott Gallimore Alumni Association, Inc. will endeavor to ensure the association function at the highest standard of governance in support of the school’s motto – “Excellence the Goal.”
